Reporting to: Executive Director
Status: Full-time, Permanent
Summary: The Director of Resources & Development is a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for leading all fundraising, donor relations, marketing, and communications strategies that sustain and grow the mission of WINGS. This role collaborates closely with the service delivery teams to ensure programs are supported with the resources, visibility, and partnerships they need to thrive.
In addition to external relations, the Director of Resources & Development also supports internal operations by contributing to human resources planning and serving as a backup to the Executive Director during periods of absence. The ideal candidate is a strategic and relationship-driven leader with a strong background in fund development and communications, and a passion for supporting women and children experiencing domestic violence.
Roles & Responsibilities
Fund Development Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute a comprehensive fund development strategy including major gifts, grants, annual giving, corporate sponsorships, planned giving, and fundraising events.
Manage and grow a portfolio of donors through meaningful cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation strategies.
Identify emerging funding opportunities and align resource development with organizational goals and community needs.
Grants & Proposal Development
Lead grant writing, reporting, and relationship management with government, foundations, and corporate funders.
Collaborate with the service delivery teams to ensure funding proposals reflect program priorities, needs, and impact.
Track and report on grant deliverables to ensure compliance and transparency.
Marketing, Communications & Public Relations
Oversee communications strategies, ensuring consistent, mission-aligned messaging across platforms.
Ensure all communications uplift client voices with dignity and maintain trauma-informed, culturally safe practices.
Represent WINGS at public events and in the media to raise awareness and build support.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
Build and maintain relationships with donors, funders, media, and community organizations.
Represent WINGS at sector tables and collaborative initiatives to increase visibility and influence.
Support the Executive Director in building and maintaining relationships with government and philanthropic partners.
Organizational Leadership & Internal Collaboration
Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, budget discussions, and organizational decision-making.
Supervise and support a small development and communications team.
Executive Director Support
Act as a designated backup to the Executive Director during absences to ensure organizational stability and continuity of leadership.
Represent the organization as needed at external meetings, funder relations, and community events.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Finance Team in budgeting, financial planning, and cost monitoring for program areas.
Support organizational sustainability through resource stewardship, accountability, and reporting.
Serve as a secondary signing authority for organizational expenditures and contracts.
Support HR efforts in recruitment, onboarding, performance development, and fostering a positive organizational culture.
Assist in developing and implementing staff communications, recognition, and wellness initiatives in partnership with leadership.
Qualifications & Education Requirements:
· Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in fundraising, communications, nonprofit leadership, or a related field.
· Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in fund development, communications, or external relations, including leadership and supervision.
· CFRE designation or related credentials are considered an asset.

· Class 5 license and access to reliable vehicle with minimum $2M Liability Insurance
