Who We Are

WINGS - Women In Need Growing Stronger

WINGS saves women and children who are escaping domestic abuse by delivering secure long-term housing and wrap-around support services to help families 24/7. While these fully furnished apartments provide needed shelter for survivors, WINGS does much more than provide a roof over their heads.

WINGS creates a safe and welcoming home for women and children. Our trauma informed approach, intensive counseling, onsite childcare, life skills training, as well as child and youth programs - encourage healing for the whole family. We give women time to process and the tools they need to recover from the horrific trauma they have experienced. Our full-circle healing helps women and children become more stable, access new skills and set a healthy course for their lives.

We deliver our programming with kindness and compassion and provide transformational support that changes the lives of women and children.

WINGS is a non-profit organization.

  • We Are Every Woman

A woman being abused can come from any background. She is our neighbour, a newcomer settling in Canada, a university-educated teacher or a brand-new mom. Domestic abuse has no boundaries and can affect any person at any age.

  • We Are Needed

Unfortunately, the need for WINGS is growing. Abuse victims continue to suffer unimaginable and increasingly horrific assaults. The trauma is deep and impacts both moms and kids in every way possible.

  • We Are Transformational

WINGS provides a critical piece of the healing journey. Our wrap around service supports the whole person with kindness and empathy. We don’t just provide a safe place to sleep, we reduce suffering and empower women to recognize their trauma, begin to heal and start a new life.

  • We Are Life-Changing

Simply put, we reduce lethality for women and children living in domestic violence. Our life saving work has a ripple effect that will last generations by stopping the cycle of family violence and abuse.

  • We Are Hope

We provide stability, structure and routine where there is none. We create healthy connections, a sense of belonging and community. We reduce suffering in children and support women to live the happy and safe life they deserve.
