Nancy Hollman
Nancy joined the Canadian Red Cross in May 2016 as an Indigenous Peoples Officer to work with the First Nations and Metis communities after the Fort McMurray fire and has held various functions with the Canadian Red Cross such as Community Wellness and Protection Lead, Geographical Lead for Manitoba, and Nunavut, she is also trained to be a Safe and Wellbeing Responder. Nancy completed Psychological First Aid Training in February 2023 and is a certified Trainer.
Nancy has been deployed on many Social Emergency Responses throughout Canada’s Indigenous Communities. She responded to the findings of the unmarked gravesites in Kamloops and Cranbrook BC to support the community, and she also supported in Covid Isolation and Vaccination sites in Manitoba.
Nancy is a proud Metis Cree speaking woman who brings a wealth of Indigenous knowledge to the ICR team. Her culture, language and traditions are very important to her. Her passion working with Indigenous communities is from her heart and the love of her own family who always helped others in times of need. Nancy’s teachers were her parents who showed her the power of giving and supporting. Nancy has now passed her cultural knowledge to her sons and grandchildren.
She also works a few hours a week with the Downie Wenjack Fund as a ReconciliACTION coordinator, educating students and organizations on Indigenous Awareness.
