Director
Gurkirat Sidhu
Gurkirat was born in Abbotsford and moved to Edmonton in her early teens. She completed her Social Work Diploma at MacEwan University, Bachelor of Social Work at Thompson University in Kamloops and Master of Social Work at the University of Regina at the Saskatoon campus. Upon completing her studies, Gurkirat returned home to Edmonton and took on various roles as a Social Worker. Gurkirat has worked in adoptions, with the Government of Alberta, and mental health services in both acute and primary care settings. Over time, her practice has shifted to a focus in mental health services and teaching social work.
Gurkirat is deeply invested in supporting initiatives that provide holistic care and support to women, women’s rights and empowerment and creating safe spaces. Gurkirat has a passion to work alongside vulnerable people and to create change to address marginalization and barriers they may experience.
Outside of work, Gurkirat can be found with her family, friends, and her dogs. She enjoys the outdoors in the summertime, traveling and exploring new places just as much as reading a good book snuggled up with her pups.
