Level 2 or 3 Early Childhood Educator Full time position

Location: Rocky Forest Daycare and Out of School Care located in Southeast Edmonton

Small center, licensed for 33 children in Daycare and 16 in Out of School Care. Focus on FLIGHT Framework Curriculum following the interest of the child to create mighty citizens.

We are looking for a full time, 7.5 hours 5 days a week, flexible start and end of shift, between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Educator that has the passion to involve children in their planning, encouraging ideas and creativity. Educator must be comfortable working with all age groups. Program is not located on the internet, we provide care for women and children fleeing domestic violence, more information can be found at www.wingsofprovidence.ca

The staff are given one paid day off per month, as a Mental Health Day, excellent benefits 50% of the cost covered by employer, 2 weeks paid vacation after one year. Wage to be discussed with potential Educators at pre-screening.

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Alberta Child Care Staff Certification Level 2 or 3 Early Childhood Educator

  • Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Intervention Check

  • Current Childcare First Aid and CPR Certificate

  • minimum 1-year experience Child Care field

Responsibility to Program and Families

  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Development that promotes the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children newborn to 12 years of age

  • Extensive knowledge in trauma-informed best practices, the effects of trauma on brain development

  • Program follows FLIGHT Framework Curriculum, training is beneficial

  • Be a positive role model to build children's social, interpersonal skills and self-esteem by establishing routines and positive guidance that allow children to feel secure, comfortable, and safe.

  • Communicate with parents regarding their children in a professional, caring, and respectful way

  • Work as part of a team; assisting each other with planning and implementing program along with a cooperative effort to ensure the policies and philosophies of the program are upheld

  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly records regarding the children, including but not limited to activities, attendance, and confidential records on child incidents and disclosures

  • Must be able to perform physical activities related to working with children, lifting, bending, standing, climbing, and walking.
